The move to WordPress.
Posted on November 28, 2006
We just moved our blog over from Blogger to WordPress. After spending some time with both we felt that WordPress offers a more expressive set of tools, better esthetics and greater control and management capabilities. Google hasn’t done much with Blogger since they bought it. In contrast WordPress has been investing heavily since it is all they do.
The move was remarkably easy given the power of XML and the automatic ability to separate content from formats. In a few minutes all of our posts were moved over. True we had some template editing and link updates but it’s still an easy process.
Of course those few brave souls who used RSS will have to update their links and we will need to change a few minor things in our own links but at this stage of our growth it’s doable.

Welcome to WordPress. You may want to run your RSS feeds through Feedburner. That way your subs will never have to update their subscriptions no matter what your blog is powered by. Feedburner also provides some great functionality and stats. There are even some good plugins for feedburner as well — http://orderedlist.com/wordpress-plugins/feedburner-plugin/
A lot of people have moved to Word Press from Blogger- I’ve always thought of it but then my blog is so god damn personalized with links it would be hectic to do it all over again- your blog looks very neat!
